It is important to understand that there are a limited amount of resources on the planet and we need to share them with other people as well as plants and animals. Here are some ideas to help manage our use of these precious resources.

  • Reduce:

    • Buy a more economical car. Save the planet and save money at the gas pump.

    • Buy a more economical home that fits your needs. You will pay less on energy to heat your home and less on maintenance and repairs as well.

    • Use things as long as you possibly can before throwing them away.

    • Take care of what you already have to avoid buying unnecessary replacements.

    • Use food wisely as well. Close to half of all food in the United States is wasted.

    • Share what you have with others.

    • Organize your things so you don’t buy stuff you already have

    • When possible try to fix things rather than replacing them

  • Reuse

    • Borrow things from friends and family members that they no longer use.

    • Shop at the thrift store when possible.

    • Also remember to bring things you don’t need that still work to the thrift store or give/sell your things to other people so they can be reused.

  • Recycle

    • Learn how to recycle plastics, metals, lights, etc.

    • Then take the time to recycle properly to decrease the amount of waste sent to landfills
